CEREC Porcelain CrownsIf you need a crown, you may envision having to endure a messy impression, wearing a temporary that may or may not fall off, and going to at least two dental visits for the entire procedure. Who has that kind of time?
We told you we’re changing the way people go to the dentist, and we mean it!
How’s that for state of the art?

Let’s back up a bit. If you’ve never had a crown, you may need a little more information. A crown is a dental restoration created from solid material, unlike a filling, which begins as a liquid. Crowns literally crown or cap a tooth by covering the entire portion of the tooth that extends above the gum line. Dr. Quandt prefers to use CEREC porcelain crowns whenever possible, though back teeth often require porcelain-fused-to-metal or all metal crowns because of the intense crushing pressure they must endure when you chew.
When a cavity or crack in your tooth becomes too significant for a filling to repair, Dr. Quandt relies on a crown to restore durability, structure, and function to the compromised tooth.
In some situations, Dr. Quandt can use CEREC or our dental lab to create an inlay or onlay. These partial crowns are stronger than a filling, but they require less tooth preparation. Inlays and onlays are a conservative option. Dr. Quandt will advise you which option is best for your situation.
