Sedation Dentistry

Dental Care without the Anxiety

If you’re slightly nervous or even afraid to go to the dentist, you’re far from alone! At our practice, we treat nervous patients every day. Fear of going to the dentist, or “dental phobia,” can be caused by many things, but what remains the same is that it can be a tremendous barrier to dental care. People with dental phobia will often avoid going to the dentist for years at a time and only seek out care when their problems become too overwhelming. This creates even more trauma, and the cycle continues.

This is why we work hard to make the experience at Dental Designs by Quandt as gentle and relaxing as possible for everyone who comes to see us. If you need a little help to feel safe and comfortable in the treatment chair, just let us know, and we’ll offer you a multitude of sedation options. With these techniques, we can help calm your nervous mind and protect you from discomfort at the same time. With sedation dentistry, we can finally take the stress out of your dental care.

This option will leave you feeling refreshed, amiable, and able to resume your normal daily activities immediately. You can learn more about the NuCalm™ system by visiting their website.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” is very effective for patients with minor dental anxiety. It is easily administered and has been used in dentistry for over 100 years. Nitrous oxide is inhaled through a small nasal mask, and you will quickly feel the relaxing effects putting you at ease for your dental treatment. When your treatment is finished, nitrous oxide wears off very quickly, so you can leave our office and go right back to your daily activities.

Oral Conscious Sedation

We also offer oral conscious sedation for our patients. Being one of the first dental offices in the state to offer oral conscious sedation, we have extensive experience helping people to relieve their dental anxiety. With oral conscious sedation, you will be given one or two pills to help you relax, and in most cases, you can have all of your dental treatments preformed in as little as one or two appointments. Most people have little to no memory of their dental visit afterward. With oral conscious sedation, we recommend that you have someone drive you to the office and back home afterward.
